Rose namajunas imposed a veritable massacre on paige vanzant in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 80, an event held this Thursday (10) in Las Vegas, in the United States. On the first day of three of the “UFC marathon”, Namajunas made use of her greatest experience to completely nullify her opponent, considered one of the organization's biggest rising stars.

Namajunas dominated the fight from start to finish, in all areas where the duel took place. Standing up, he made use of his best movement and strikes, frustrating VanZant and opening a cut on his opponent's face early on. Furthermore, Rose managed takedowns easily, almost always combining with dominant positions on the ground.

If he couldn't respond technically, VanZant drew attention for refusing to give up. Even completely defeated and bloody, the young athlete managed to resist the fight for a long time, incredibly surviving a rear naked choke and two armbars – in one of them, her elbow dislocated.

However, Namajunas showed incredible momentum and sought the finish from start to finish. In the last round, she applied a fair choke to her opponent, who had no choice but to give up.

It was the second victory in three fights for Namajunas in the UFC, with VanZant experiencing her first setback in the octagon – previously, she had triumphed in three fights.

If the “UFC sweetheart” VanZant lost, another favorite of the organization triumphed in the Octagon this Thursday. Sage Northcutt He got the better of Cody Pfister and won his second in a row in the organization, also by submission.

The fight didn't start in the best way for Northcutt, who was taken down almost immediately by Pfister. The UFC's youngest athlete, aged 19, was on the bottom for a few moments while his opponent worked with strikes. However, the referee assessed that the fight had little action and put both athletes back on their feet.

Then it was Northcutt's turn to apply the takedown and land on top. He worked with elbows from half guard, which opened the door for a katagatame – the submission almost didn't come.

The two fighters started the second round “squaring off” to decide who would get the takedown and be in a dominant position. Northcutt landed on top, but did not stabilize his position. Pfister then went for the takedown, but left his neck exposed for a guillotine choke. The finish came at 41 seconds of the second round.

The UFC will hold two more events in the next two days: on Friday the TUF 22 Finale will take place, with Chad Mendes e Frankie Edgar dueling in the main fight. On Saturday, José Aldo e Conor McGregor Finally, they make the long-awaited fight at UFC 194.
