Top Irish star in MMA, Conor McGregor counts on the support of illustrious compatriots for the biggest fight of his career, against José Aldo, this Saturday (12). The interim featherweight champion, who will try to unify the category's belts in the UFC, received a message of encouragement from the band U2, who assured that they will be rooting for the fighter against the Brazilian.
On his Twitter account, McGregor used a pun to address the musicians. “Saturday will be a 'Beautiful Day' [referring to the song Beautiful day, one of the band's biggest hits] when I unify my belt for Ireland. Will my U2 compatriots be watching UFC 194?” asked the athlete, who received an almost immediate response from the stars.
“There's a party in Las Vegas on Saturday! Come on, Conor, let's go”, sent Bono's band Vox, in a message entirely in Irish.
McGregor, who has won every fight he has had in the UFC, will try to dethrone Brazilian Aldo in the main fight of UFC 194, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA).
