Lightweight Gleison Tibau was suspended by the UFC this Friday (4) due to an irregularity in a surprise anti-doping test carried out by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, USADA.

The native of Rio Grande do Norte, a Brazilian athlete with the most fights (26) and victories (17) in the UFC and the record holder for victories in the under-70 kg division, fell in a test carried out outside the competition period. Ultimate has not yet given details about what happened, but guaranteed that Tibau will remain suspended for an indefinite period of time.

“The United States Anti-Doping Agency has notified Gleison Tibau and the UFC that he has been provisionally suspended due to a potential anti-doping policy violation in an out-of-competition test. USADA, the UFC's independent drug testing administrator, will handle the results appropriately. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time in the process”, says the UFC, in a statement.

Tibau is coming off a recent victory over Abel Trujillo in the UFC Sao Paulo, on November 7th. If the test is indeed positive and was carried out before the fight, it is likely that the Brazilian will see the result turn into a no-contest.
