Nurmagomedov, a Muslim from the Dagestan region of Russia, appears in passing in the “Lone Wolf” video, which was released by the Islamic State 11 days after the tragedy in France. In it, there are images of the fight against the Brazilian Thiago tavares, held in January 2013, in São Paulo.

Even though Nurmagomedov's name was not specifically mentioned, the tone is critical of the fighter. “Muslims in Russia do not fight for victims of Islam, to save girls from rape. They fight in the pagan Olympic Games to amuse their leaders and then stand with obedient faces in front of their lying leaders, lying flag. Leaders of countries that have been at war with the world of Islam for a long time. They all have their hands in the blood of this war”, says the video, in Russian with Arabic subtitles, according to a translation by the subscription channel “SporTV”.

The video, which is more than 20 minutes long, tells the story of Russian involvement in the Middle East and other Islamic regions of the Balkans. Nurmagomedov did not comment on the matter.
