Kampmann wants to use Paulo Thiago as a climber

Scheduled to face the Brazilian Paulo thiago at UFC-115, Martin Kampmann seeks to rediscover the path to victory in the climb for the belt. The Dane, who after being knocked out by Paul Daley recovered by defeating Jacob Volkmann at UFC-108, praises the Brazilian athlete, but is already thinking about higher goals.

“I definitely think that (Paulo) Thiago is higher ranked and more dangerous than Ben Saunders (an opponent he would have faced at UFC-111, but the duel didn't happen due to an injury). It's a risk to fight guys like that, but the risk is worth it”, said the Dane, who reveals his desire to always fight against the best.

“I want to win fights, go out there and beat guys, I want to keep getting tough guys, and I think Paulo thiago is the first step. I want to beat him, of course, to take the next step in the climb”, said Kampmann, who already sees a future opponent.

“I don't like to look ahead, but guys like Jon Fitch and Thiago “Pitbull” Alves have fights scheduled. Dan Hardy is coming off a defeat. There are a lot of different guys up there in the welterweight division that could be good to fight, but first I have to focus on Thiago.”

UFC-115 takes place this Saturday, June 12th, in Vancouver, Canada and will be broadcast live on Canal Combate from 23 pm.
