There are many jiu-jitsu practitioners in the celebrity world, and one of them recently achieved an important achievement. Musician Júnior Lima, famous since he was a duo with his sister, Sandy, graduated with a brown belt in the gentle art, being just one step away from the long-awaited black belt.
Júnior has been practicing jiu-jitsu for over five years and is currently taking private lessons with Narcísio Villaça, in São Paulo. The singer's instructor spoke about his training routine until he gained his brown belt.
“Júnior has never competed in any championship and has no ambition to compete either. He does it for his lifestyle. The tournament within Jiu-Jitsu is 10% of what it really is, so he doesn't see this need. He lives ca gross jiu-jitsu, breathes it, but we don't see the need for him to compete in anything... He only trains as a hobby, he loves the sport a lot, but he sees jiu-jitsu this way”, he commented, in an interview with “Tatame” magazine.
“We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and generally the classes are private, but as he developed, we added more people to training, so that he could develop even better. I have some black belt friends who show up frequently and help a lot with his development,” he added.
