At the beginning of last month, John hendricks went through a real hardship when he was hospitalized while losing weight to face Tyron woodley at UFC 192. That, in fact, wasn't the first time that the former champion faced difficulties in making the welterweight division's weight limit (77 kg), which even created the possibility of moving up a category. However, this will not happen, as Hendricks has confirmed that he will remain in his home division.

To be successful in his plan, Hendricks announced the hiring of sports nutritionist Louis Giordano, who will assist him in whatever is necessary so that the difficulties in gaining weight become a thing of the past.
“I decided to hire Lou after hearing the offer he made to me during an interview. After that, I realized that all I needed to waste was my time. We talked on the phone and decided it would make sense for him to come to Texas. From the beginning I felt very comfortable with him. I look forward to making the necessary lifestyle changes to regain the UFC welterweight belt. I believe that, by working with Lou, my game will change and I will become even more dangerous”, declared Hendricks, who was welterweight champion between March and December last year.
In October, Hendricks ended up being cut from the fight he would have against Woodley on the eve of the event. At UFC 171, in March 2014, the North American almost lost his chance to fight for the title due to problems with the scale, but he ended up reaching the weight limit on the second attempt and was able to face – and win – Robbie Lawler.
