After two events held in the Mexican capital, the UFC arrives in a new city in the country this Saturday (21). UFC Fight Night 78, in Monterrey, has a more discreet card compared to other attractions based in the country, but still promises to deliver some interesting fights to the public.

Unlike the shows in Mexico City, the event in Monterrey does not feature any stars from the biggest MMA organization on the planet. The main fight of the night will be between Kelvin Gastelum e Neil Magny, two fighters from the welterweight division looking to conquer their place in the category.

PUBLICITY:

Gastelum is even trying to establish himself as a 77 kg athlete. Since becoming TUF 17 middleweight champion, the American of Mexican descent has made an effort to move down a category, but often suffers from problems with weight cutting. This time, Gastelum broke the welterweight limit without difficulty, and a victory over Magny could establish him in the division once and for all.

However, the stop will not be easy. Magny has been strong in Ultimate, with eight wins in his last nine fights, including a recent triumph over the Brazilian Erick silva. The North American has the disadvantage of having little preparation time, as he was called up at the last minute for UFC FN 78 to replace the injured Matt Brown. However, the duel promises to be fierce in Mexico.

PUBLICITY:

The second most important fight of the night sees a UFC veteran trying to find a new direction for his career. Champion of the first edition of TUF among middleweights, Diego Sanchez he will make his featherweight debut, perhaps starting a new chance at the UFC belt. On the other side of the octagon there will be a high caliber opponent: Ricardo Lamas, former challenger for the belt belonging to José Aldo.

Brazilians in action

However, the fight of greatest sporting importance will be between the Brazilian Jussier formiga e Henry Cejudo, Olympic gold medalist in wrestling in 2008. Both athletes are on the rise in the UFC, and the winner of the duel will most likely be chosen as the next challenger for the flyweight belt, which is currently in the hands of Demetrious Johnson. Judging by the heated atmosphere between the two at the weigh-in, both Formiga and Cejudo seem like they will do everything they can to not let the opportunity slip away.

PUBLICITY:

UFC FN 78 will also feature three other Brazilians: Leandro Buscapé will face TUF 8 champion Efrain Escudero; Valmir Bidu and Michel Trator will do a 100% Tupiniquim duel at the opening of the event.
