The day of the most anticipated rematch of the year has arrived. The Brazilians Lyoto Machida e Mauricio Shogun face each other for the light heavyweight belt in the main fight of UFC-113, an event that takes place tonight in Montreal, Canada.
In the first challenge between the two fighters, in October last year, the champion Lyoto Machida and challenger Maurício Shogun fought a five-round war, which divided the MMA world, when the judges' verdict was in favor of Lyoto.
“The first fight between Machida and Shogun was very controversial. I believe the fans are very excited to see them fight again and find out who is the best in the world in the light heavyweight division”, says Dana White, president of the UFC.
During the weigh-in held last night, Shogun had the support of the Canadian public who applauded the Curitiba native after his interview with the event's official reporter, Joe Rogan.
“I was very disappointed with the result of the other fight, but tomorrow I will do my best to show that I am the true champion of the category. You can expect a great show”, said Shogun.
Now the champion Lyoto Machida He ended up being booed during his statements to Rogan, but he guarantees that he will give a great performance.
“I trained a lot for this fight and we will see tomorrow who is the real champion. And I'm here to show that, to show that I'm the champion. It’s a great opportunity to put on a show and show my work”, said the karateka.
