Last month, the North American website “Deadspin” revealed that Belfort fought at UFC 152, in 2012, despite having an irregular test that showed excess free testosterone. The report also said that the UFC was aware of the irregularity, but still allowed the Brazilian to face Jon Jones.

Belfort, who has experienced moments of controversy with anti-doping tests throughout his career, denied that this specific case causes him image damage. "No way. Reputation is only hurt when you hide things, but when you have nothing to hide, people like it. I have nothing to hide: I disclosed my exams. Some people understand it, some don't, but it's a medical problem. I still need treatment, but I can't get it, so I continued training and working”, said the Brazilian, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

The fighter, who has already defended himself regarding the episode, once again stated that he did not commit any irregularity. “I was under medical treatment and my doctors handled it together with the UFC. The truth is that I always disclosed my exams to the UFC, so there were no problems. I fought with the approval of the commission and the UFC, so there was nothing hidden”, he defended.
