Problems in the organization can deprive Fabricio Werdum the chance to defend the heavyweight title for the first time at home, and the Brazilian could end up in his home country Cain Velazquez to face him. This is because the duel between the current and former champion of the 120 kg category could be transferred to UFC 196, in the city of Las Vegas (USA).
The information was released by the official Ultimate newspaper on North American TV, “UFC Tonight”. According to the news, the organization has been finding it difficult to close the date with the Arena da Baixada, Atlético Paranaense's stadium, which would host the fight night. Thus, the duel between Werdum and Velasquez would be transferred to the traditional weekend event of the Super Bowl (American football final in the USA), on February 6th.
At 38, Fabricio Werdum has a professional record of 20 wins, five losses and one draw. Since returning to Ultimate in 2012, “Vai Cavalo”, as he is known, is undefeated and won his six fights. Already Cain Velazquez, 33 years old, has a record of 13 wins and two losses. Former two-time heavyweight champion, Velasquez will complete his seventh consecutive fight against Brazilian fighters against Werdum.
