A few weeks ago, despite being suspended for a year after being caught in two anti-doping tests in the fight against Nick Diaz, the former Brazilian champion Anderson Silva revealed during an Ultimate event in Russia that intended to return to the octagon in April 2016. Now, Spider has used social media to confirm his desire and imply that the return is already underway.

"Good afternoon my people. I'm returning to the UFC in April”, wrote Anderson on his official profile on Instagram. “Not even true champions live on victories alone. Because defeats serve us as lessons. And from them we learn that winning is necessary. But for that to happen we need to learn to compete. We then learned to plan, organize, and be disciplined. And the most important thing is to have a goal. It's what makes us great and true champions. Every dawn is a victory that God gives us. It is certain that we will have another day to live. So let's do what's best, what's fair, what's pleasant. For new dawns to come. And that every day we can be fighting. Not against someone, but in a fight for life. In the certainty that they are stopped, discouraged and little motivated. Maybe we’ll even get somewhere… But don’t be surprised if that place isn’t what you want”, completed Spider, in a text attributed to author Reff Carvalho.

At 40, Anderson Silva has a professional record of 33 wins, six losses and one fight without result. Suspended for a year by the Nevada Athletic Commission, Spider will only be able to return to the octagon in February 2016, and declared that he would like to face the British Michael Bisping at a hypothetical Ultimate event in Curitiba (PR), the city where he grew up.
