Recently, a heated exchange of words between Rafael dos Anjos e Conor McGregor during a UFC press conference, he gave signs that a new rivalry was about to begin. However, the Brazilian downplayed the episode against the Irishman and stated that his focus is on his usual rivals in the lightweight division, Donald Cerrone e Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In September, McGregor drew attention during a UFC event and fired a shot at Dos Anjos, claiming that he and other athletes in the 70 kg division are “slow”. At the time, the Brazilian countered and stated that the fight would be “easy money”.
However, the Brazilian nudged McGregor's interim title and turned his focus to Cerrone, who he faces in December, and Nurmagomedov, who defeated him in April last year. “I have honor in my belt. He's not a lie. I have a real belt, because I fought against the best. That's why I think it's more important. Now, my focus is on this fight with Cerrone, but then I want Khabib, because I want to take this defeat off my record”, he declared, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.
Rafael dos Anjos e Donald Cerrone face each other on December 19th, in Orlando (USA), in the main fight of UFC on FOX 17. McGregor fights a week earlier, against José Aldo, in the main attraction of UFC 194. Nurmagomedov remains out of fights due to injury, and his last fight was precisely the victory over Dos Anjos.
