Khabib admits he may retire after injury

The Russian fighter, who hasn't competed since April 2014, appeared quite dejected with a broken rib that took him out of yet another fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov Life hasn't been easy lately. The Russian, considered one of the biggest names in the UFC lightweight division today, suffered another injury and was once again forced to leave a fight for which he was scheduled. And the fighter himself admits that the new setback could bring a premature end to his career.

Nurmagomedov hasn't fought since April last year, when he defeated Rafael dos Anjos, today champion of the category. Since then, the athlete suffered a serious knee injury, and, more recently, a rib fracture, which took him out of the fight he would have in front of Tony Ferguson in December.

“I want to apologize to my fans. I broke my rib and again, I'm out of a fight. I really want to go back, but I'm not sure if it will happen. Thank you to all my fans and sponsors”, wrote the upset fighter on his Instagram account.

At 27 years old, Nurmagomedov has an undefeated record in professional MMA, with 22 wins in 22 fights. Among his victims there are three Brazilians: in addition to Dos Anjos, he defeated Thiago tavares and Gleison Tibau.
