The New Jersey Athletic Commission will implement an interesting experiment with the judges of MMA fights that take place in the state. At the Cage Fury Fighting Championship event, which will take place on October 31st, in Atlantic City, three judges will be placed in isolated soundproof rooms to score the fights.

The trio of judges will watch the fights via video, without the influence of external factors, such as sounds from the crowd or fighters. The event will also feature another conventional trio, which will see fights next to the cage. It is this trio that will determine the official scoring of the fights, but the experiment will be valid due to the comparison that will be made between the two groups of judges.
“We are pleased with the quality of our judges, but recently we have been wondering how much it affects blocked views, limited angles, distance and crowd noise. Technological advancements and cameras can give fans a clearer, more accurate view of the action compared to what the judges are seeing cageside. So much so that executives and broadcast teams who are next to the cage often have a monitor”, explained the entity's director, Larry Hazzard, to the North American website “MMA Junkie”.
The New Jersey Commission has already inspected important UFC events, such as fights between Luke Rockhold e Lyoto Machida, José Aldo x Ricardo Lamas, Renan Barao x Urijah faber e Jon Jones x Mauritius Shogun.
