In an interview with Steve Austin's podcast, Lesnar stated that he would still be doing damage in the UFC if his body contributed. “You saw me 100% in the fight against Randy, but then it got worse. When I was more than halfway through my training, I knew something was wrong. There was something physically wrong with me, so I needed to investigate what it was,” he commented. “It’s not idle talk. I felt robbed by diverticulitis. I was feeling good, but it took a while for me to feel good again. It was really unfair for me. To this day I don't know if I would have returned to pro-wrestling if I hadn't gotten sick. I would still be banging heads,” he added.
