Cejudo: 'Fighters are afraid to confront the Nevada Commission'

Olympic medalist explains why he was one of the only ones to clash with the North American entity: 'I don't want to lose my values'

When the Nevada Athletic Commission suspended Nick Diaz for five years for doping, many athletes supported the North American, criticizing the entity for a punishment considered unfair. However, the flyweight Henry Cejudo he was one of the only ones to categorically state that he would no longer fight under the entity's jurisdiction, which includes fights held in Las Vegas (USA).

Asked why he was one of the only ones to make such a decision, Cejudo stated that the other UFC fighters are afraid of going head to head with the sport's most influential regulatory body. “People are afraid. They say they support it, but then they schedule a fight in Las Vegas”, he commented, in an interview reproduced by the “MMA Fighting” website.

“But when I said that, I meant it. I am no one's slave. I know what it's like to be the best in the world, to have a gold medal, but I don't want to have a gold belt and lose my values”, continued the athlete, who won a gold medal in wrestling at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. .
