Wanderlei has also faced problems with the Nevada Commission in the past. In 2014, he was banned for life from competitions sanctioned by the entity for refusing to take a surprise drug test. However, the Brazilian appealed and is expected to undergo a new trial at the end of the month.

Thus, the former PRIDE champion recorded a video in which he offered to work with the Nevada Commission, in order to facilitate the relationship between it and the athletes. “This Commission should have a professional athlete working there. I am available to work with the Commission to create clear laws that give fighters the respect they deserve. Athletes deserve more respect,” he commented.

“The Commission has made many mistakes. She shouldn't be allowed to punish someone like that, especially for so long. This practically ends a fighter's career. It's very hazy and unclear. One guy gets a year, another gets two years. I had to appeal in court and I'm spending a lot of money on lawyers to defend myself. I have never tested positive for anything. I've always been a clean fighter and they want to ban me from the sport. How does this work?” continued the 39-year-old Brazilian.
