In an interview with Joe Rogan's podcast, Cerrone declared that Pettis had offered help with training, since, in his words, the former champion “hates Dos Anjos”, the athlete who dethroned him in March. However, Pettis clarified the misunderstanding and said he would never train with another athlete in his category.
On the program “UFC Tonight”, on the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”, Pettis stated that he never told Cerrone that he hated Dos Anjos. According to the attraction, Pettis believes that Cerrone took the conversation out of context and that his only intention is to regain the UFC lightweight belt.
The fight between Cerrone and Dos Anjos will take place on December 19th, in the main attraction of UFC on FOX 17. Pettis returns to the octagon a month later, against Eddie Alvarez, at UFC Fight Night 81.
