The UFC's long-standing desire to hold an event in a football stadium in Brazil appears to be close to becoming a reality. After the recent declaration of Anderson Silva, who stated that he would fight in March in a large arena in Brazil, this time it was Fabricio Werdum which confirmed that a major event should indeed be held in Brazil.

A few weeks ago, “Spider” revealed that he would face Michael Bisping in March, at Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba (PR). Werdum, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”, confirmed that this indeed seems close to happening.

“It’s not 100% certain yet, but the fight will take place in March. I wanted it to be in Porto Alegre, but Grêmio's stadium doesn't have a roof. There is a football stadium in Curitiba with a retractable roof, so it will probably be there. This fight will take place in a stadium because a lot of people are waiting for it”, said the current UFC heavyweight champion.

Werdum insisted on his desire to have a rematch with Cain Velazquez in Brazil, as his first fight against his rival took place in Mexico City. “I've been trying to bring this fight to Brazil. I've already fought at his house twice – he wasn't there the first time, but he was there the second time. Now it’s my turn”, said the Brazilian, who submitted Velasquez in June to win the title.
