The black belt Rousimar Toquinho tried to clarify the controversial conclusion about Tomasz Drwal at UFC-111, when the Pole gave up the fight with a heel hook and the Brazilian didn't release the blow. The mountain bike athlete stated that he did not feel Drwal's three taps and that he had no intention of hurting his opponent.
“I didn't feel him hitting me, I thought he was pushing my leg and I held on until the referee stopped the fight. I didn't want to hurt him. I was very excited about the fight and I was sad about what happened”, said the Brazilian at the press conference after the event.
Despite Rousimar's justification, the New Jersey Athletic Commission suspended the Brazilian for 90 days due to unsportsmanlike behavior.
