Nick Diaz was outraged by the Nevada Athletic Commission's decision to suspend him for five years for a doping case before his last fight in January. The fighter fired harsh words at the organization and accused it of “doing everything” to prevent him from reaching the top of MMA.

In your fight against Anderson SilvaIn January, Diaz was caught with marijuana in his system. As it was the third time that the fighter had failed exams for the same reason, the Nevada Commission imposed a heavy penalty, plus a fine of US$165, corresponding to 33% of the purse he received for the fight. In an interview shortly after the trial, Diaz showed considerable dissatisfaction.
“I'm quite irritated. I got into this sport for the same reason I was stuck in that room, with people like that. First of all, this sport, this commission, did everything to stop me from being at the top, where I should be. They are doing everything they can to stop me from proving to the world that I am the best fighter – and I am the best. They want nothing but dull fighters in the sport. These people are nothing more than a bunch of thugs,” said Diaz, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.
The fighter's defense stated that they will appeal the decision. The fight against Anderson Silva was declared a no contest, as the Brazilian, originally the winner in the judges' decision, was also caught in the anti-doping test, for anabolic steroids, and received a one-year suspension.
