In addition to the possibility of contamination, Anderson's lawyers are working on a second line of defense: disqualifying the positive tests collected by the Sports Medicine Research and Testing Laboratory (SMRTL). In tests carried out by Quest Diagnostics, the presence of any anabolic steroids was not found. Based on the inconsistency of the results, the lawyers close the document asking for the fighter's acquittal.

A second examination, carried out on the 19th of the same month, did not show any trace of illegal substances. In the post-fight examination, however, Anderson tested positive again for anabolic steroids and, in addition, also for two anxiolytics, Oxazepam and Temazepam, medicines generally used to combat insomnia and sleep disorders.

Recently, it was reported that one of Spider's positive tests presented inconsistent results when analyzed by another laboratory, but the information was not commented on by the fighter, his team, Ultimate or the Commission itself.
