Frog, which comes from victory over Uriah Hall, in May, stated that he gradually realized that he was feeling a difference with his vision. “I covered one of my eyes and saw that I couldn’t see one side of my face in the car mirror. I went to the doctor the next day, and he detected the retinal detachment. He had the surgery on June 8th, in the afternoon. Everything went well during the surgery and, when Dr. Cláudio Junqueira was about to release me, a month after the procedure, the retina detached again. The doctor said it was normal to do more than one surgery in this situation. I felt bad. I couldn't return to New York, where I live, due to the pressure of the flight. It took two months and two surgeries, without knowing when it was time to return to the fight. It was a big drama. I didn't know of any fighter who had this. I was lost”, commented the fighter, in an interview on the “Combate” channel website.

In fact, this type of situation is not unheard of among MMA fighters. Recently, Michael Bisping He was away for a long period with the same problem. “I'm recovering well, letting the eye heal so I don't have any problems. I won't need to retire early because of this. My biggest fear is having to retire due to injury. It was the most serious injury of my career. I saw that the Michael Bisping He went through an even worse complication and had several fights, so I'll be fighting now”, said the Minas Gerais native.
