Shogun undergoes surgery and plans to return in 2016

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauritius Shogun confirmed that he underwent surgery last weekend to correct an injury he had been suffering in his right shoulder. The Curitiba native, who is coming off a victory over Rogério Minotouro at the beginning of last month, he believes he will be able to fight again at the beginning of 2016.

The news that Shogun would undergo surgery had already been recently released by the North American press. The fighter posted a message on his Facebook page to reassure his fans, who were worried about his health.

“Guys, a lot of people asked worriedly and sent messages asking for news. I want to reassure everyone. I had surgery on my right shoulder this past Sunday [6], in São Paulo, with my orthopedist Daniel Delaquilla, and everything went well! I already had my return appointment on Tuesday, and we are already taking care of the recovery to return with everything, brand new, at the beginning of next year!”, wrote the fighter.

Shogun won for the first time since November 2013 at UFC 190, in Rio de Janeiro, beating his old rival Minotouro by decision. Currently, the fighter occupies seventh place in the official ranking of the 93 kg category.
