McGregor, on Aldo: 'I hope he shows up and takes a beating like a man'

Irish fighter says he has a 'real belt' in the featherweight division and admits fear of seeing another injury for the Brazilian in December

There are still a few months to go Conor McGregor finally face José Aldo in the UFC, but the Irish fighter is already focusing on the Brazilian. The interim champion of the 66 kg division of Ultimate provoked the owner of the linear belt by saying that his title is the real title of the weight.

McGregor and Aldo were scheduled to face each other in July, at UFC 189. However, at the last minute, Aldo was injured and ended up being replaced by Chad Mendes. The fight between the Irishman and the North American was worth the interim belt, with McGregor winning by technical knockout.

“If he never shows up, I have nothing to do with it. That's it for him. I feel like the belt I have is the real one. I feel like he was more than capable of showing up and fighting. I will appear, just as I appeared on July 11th. Of course I hope he appears like a man and takes his beating like a man”, said the “Notório”, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

However, Conor admitted that he is afraid of seeing Aldo injured again. “Of course it scares me. You go through all that again and he abandons the fight again. But there are other questions that will still be asked. The show goes on. I hope he is a man, shows up, gives up the belt and retires”, added the fighter.

Aldo and McGregor are now expected to face each other at UFC 194, an event that will take place on December 12th in Las Vegas, in the United States.
