MMA athletes have discreet participation and Brazilians dominate ADCC in SP

Last weekend, the city of São Paulo hosted the 11th edition of the biggest football tournament grapple e submission on the planet, the “Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championship”, known as ADCC. With a discreet participation of MMA athletes, whose best result was third place, the competition was largely dominated by Brazilian fighters, who won in seven of the eight categories.

In fact, it is possible to say that Brazil won seven and a half titles, since the North American Mackenzie dern, champion of the under-60 kg division, is the daughter of a Brazilian father and has divided her training between the two countries throughout her career.

Among the MMA representatives, the best placed was Gilbert Durinho. The jiu-jitsu coach of Vitor belfort ended up finished by Davi ramos in the semifinals of the under 77 kg category, but recovered and took the bronze medal. The other representatives of mixed martial arts, Vinny Pezão and Ben henderson, were eliminated in the initial rounds.

In one of the most anticipated fights of this edition of the ADCC, the superfight between Carlson Gracie's disciples Ricardo Libório and José Mário Sperry, who came out on top was Libório, founder and one of the coaches of American Top Team, home to several MMA stars, including the current UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.

Up to 60kg female: Mackenzie dern beat Michelle Nicolini on points;

Over 60kg female: Ana Laura Cordeiro defeated Jessica Oliveira on points.
