After losing for the second time to TJ Dillashaw, about a month ago, Renan Barao he was in a delicate situation at bantamweight. This, combined with the difficulty the fighter already had in weighing 61 kg, reignited rumors that his next fight would take place in the top division. But nothing is defined yet.

This is what Dedé Pederneiras, Barão's head coach and manager, guarantees. According to him, the possibility of a weight change not only for the former champion is being studied, but also a possible change in José Aldo for light weight.

“The Baron is doing some tests. We are discussing this, nothing is certain. If he moves up, it doesn't change anything, it could be that Aldo moves up to the lightweight category. It's something that, even if the two move up in category, one day facing each other, takes a lot of time. I think it's too long a path to talk about now. Yes, we considered increasing weight, but nothing has been decided”, explained Pederneiras, in an interview with the “Tatame” magazine website.

Barão went undefeated for almost ten years, during which time he became UFC bantamweight champion. However, the fighter ended up losing to Dillashaw twice in his last three fights.
