Apparently hardened by several last-minute cancellations for its major events, the Ultimate organization has just announced a duel that appears to be an alternative in case any problem interferes with plans to unify the belts in the featherweight category between José Aldo e Conor McGregor: the duel between Frankie Edgar e Chad Mendes will be the main fight of the TUF 22 Finale, on the eve of UFC 194.

Information about the duel was published on the website of the newspaper “Lance”. Both Edgar and Mendes have already competed for the featherweight belt and were defeated by José Aldo. Edgar seeks his rematch against the Brazilian while Mendes has already faced the manauara twice and was defeated by Conor McGregor in July in the fight for the interim title of the 66 kg division. On that occasion, the athlete from Team Alpha Male was called in a hurry to replace the injured Aldo.
At 33, Chad Mendes has a professional record of 19 wins, four losses and one draw. The former lightweight champion is coming off a victory over Urijah faber in May this year, in the Philippines. Already Chad Mendes, 30 years old, has a record of 17 wins and three losses.
The TUF 22 Finale takes place on December 11th, at a location to be determined, in Las Vegas (USA). In addition to the duel between Edgar and Mendes in the main fight, the event will also host the finals of the most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter, trained by Urijah faber e Conor McGregor.
