Who watched the fight between Rory McDonald e Robbie Lawler, at UFC 189, in July, you may have gotten the clear impression that the Canadian was going through a really bad time. However, the fighter made a surprising statement and stated that the fight was, in fact, the best moment of his life.

MacDonald and Lawler fought a fierce and bloody fight for the welterweight belt. In the final round, however, the North American won with a technical knockout, caused by a sharp blow to the Canadian's nose, which was already fractured.

According to MacDonald, the fight helped him better understand his essence as an athlete. “It was the best moment of my life. The best experience, a true experience. That showed me who I am. Of course I'm disappointed that I didn't win, but at the end of the day, it was a once in a lifetime experience and I'm grateful for it. When the blood was all over my mouth and leaking onto my face, it was incredible”, analyzed the fighter, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”.

MacDonald also took the opportunity to praise Lawler, to whom he lost for the second time in his career. “Robbie is an incredible fighter. It's incredible to be able to fight him. I can't wait to face him again – I bet we'll fight five more times. He’s the most fun guy to face,” he added.
