The Brazilian Rousimar Toquinho lost the WSOF welterweight belt. This Tuesday (04), the president of the organization, Ray Sefo, announced the revocation of the title and the suspension of the athlete for an indefinite period. The punishment comes less than three days after Toquinho held an armbar for an excessive amount of time in Jake Shields, in the 22nd edition of the event (watch the ending below). The rival also accuses the Brazilian of putting fingers in his eye during the ground fight.

In an interview with the North American podcast 'MMA Hour', Sefo did not hide his disappointment with the Brazilian's attitude during his title defense.

“After the fight I saw complaints from Shields' team and I went home to calmly review the fight. The referee ordered him to be released five or six times, and Shields' eyes were very irritated due to the finger strikes applied by Toquinho. I met with my team and decided to take away Toquinho's belt immediately, and suspend the athlete indefinitely. I was a fighter, I fought many times and I know how these things happen. We have to put an end to this behavior once and for all”, said Sefo, who has not yet ruled out the possibility of the Brazilian being fired.

“Today he is no longer the champion and is suspended. We are not talking about dismissal, but there is a chance that the Nevada Athletic Commission (the entity that sanctioned the event) will suspend him for a few years. If that happens, he will no longer fight in WSOF,” he added.

The revocation of the title is yet another stain on Rousimar's career. The Brazilian, known for his enormous skill in ground fighting, has also been involved in other controversies. In 2013, at UFC Fight Night 29, in Barueri, a fighter was fired from Ultimate for holding Mike Pierce in a kneebar.
