Originally, Johnson was going to face the Polish light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz. However, the UFC changed its mind due to the different moments experienced by the athletes – Johnson lost to the current champion, Daniel Cormier, while Blachowicz, still unknown on the international scene, is coming off a defeat to Manuwa himself.

Thus, Ultimate decided to select the Nigerian based in England to face the North American. Blachowicz will be kept on the UFC 191 card, but he will have another opponent in front of him.
