Former UFC fighter Chris Leben was arrested last week in San Diego (USA) on several charges, including domestic violence, illegal possession of a weapon and vandalism. Leben's first trial will take place on August 8th and, without a date, it will be decided whether he will be entitled to bail, set at approximately US$100 (R$336, at the current rate).

The information was released by the North American website “Bloody Elbow”. This is not the first time Leben has been in trouble with the law. The athlete, who became famous in the first edition of the The Ultimate Fighter Due to the trouble he caused and the abuse of alcohol in the house, he was arrested for drunk driving and even admitted that he was a drug addict.

Chris Leben, who was the first middleweight champion of the extinct WEC, became known to the Brazilian public for being the first opponent of Anderson Silva in the Octagon, in 2006. On that occasion, the North American was chosen to “welcome” the Spider in the Octagon and ended up ruthlessly defeated in just 49 seconds, in a performance so impressive that it qualified the Brazilian directly to compete for the title.

At 35, Chris Leben He ended his professional MMA career with a record of 22 wins and 11 losses. Leben's last professional fight took place in December 2013, when he was defeated by Uriah Hall at UFC 168, accumulating four consecutive setbacks.
