UFC bantamweight says he almost fought with Mayweather at party

A party organized by the UFC in the pools of the MGM Grand hotel, in Las Vegas (USA), in May, almost ended in such confusion. The bantamweight aljamain sterling He said that, on that occasion, he argued with boxer Floyd Mayweather, who tried to hit on his girlfriend.

The story came to light through Chris Weidman, UFC middleweight champion and Sterling's training partner. The 25-year-old fighter confirmed the events and expressed discomfort with the attitude of Mayweather, considered the highest paid athlete in the world.

“My girlfriend was on the mezzanine and Mayweather started pointing at her. 'Who, me?', she asked, and he nodded. She didn’t give much thought, saying that she was accompanied, and laughed,” said Sterling, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “FOX Sports”.

“After that, Mayweather sent one of his security guards to get my girlfriend. He didn't know what he was getting into. No matter how many guys were with him, this is not the place where he chooses the girl he wants. Then I told him: 'I'm undefeated in MMA, you're undefeated in boxing. If you want to find out which modality is the best, let's find out now,'” continued the UFC fighter.

Sterling stated that he was angered by the situation and that he was willing to fight Mayweather if necessary. “I would take him down and strangle him. Any way I wanted. I wanted to see how many punches he could throw before I put his ass on the ground or before I got kicked in the head,” added the athlete.

Sterling has already had three fights in the UFC, beating Cody Gibson, Hugo Wolverine and Takeya Mizugaki. Mayweather is undefeated in professional boxing, with 48 wins in 48 fights, and is expected to have his farewell fight in September.
