Following accusations of domestic violence made by his wife this week, through a report with photos on social media, heavyweight Travis Browne is no longer part of the program of “International Fight Week”, a fair with several events promoted by Ultimate annually in July and which this year takes place in the days before UFC 189. Browne's exclusion was confirmed by the organization through an official statement.

“The UFC is aware of the allegations made about heavyweight Travis Browne on social media. The organization requires all athletes to behave in an ethical and responsible manner, as stipulated in the UFC Fighter Code of Conduct Policy. The UFC will not tolerate domestic violence or any other type of violation. Every athlete deserves due process and this situation, like all official allegations, will be properly reviewed and extensively investigated by an independent party. As of this news, Travis will not participate in UFC International Fight Week activities in Las Vegas,” the organization wrote.

Still in the official note, the event reinforced its stance in combating domestic violence. “The prevention of domestic violence and the education of athletes are extremely important for the organization. The UFC holds its athletes to the highest standards and will continue to take appropriate action if and when warranted,” he concluded.

At 32 years old, Travis Browne has a professional record of 17 wins, three losses and one draw. The Hawaiian comes from a defeat to Andrei Arlovski, at UFC 187, held on May 23rd. So far, Browne's girlfriend has not yet said whether she filed a complaint against the athlete. Furthermore, the fighter himself did not comment on the episode.
