For many years, the confrontation between alistair overeem e Junior Gypsy It was one of the most anticipated in the heavyweight category, but the fight always came up against the Dutchman's reluctance to face the Brazilian. This scenario, however, seems to be in the past and, now, it is Overeem who has gone public to ask for a duel against Cigano.
In his official profile at Instagram, Overeem released a photomontage in which he appears alongside Cigano and asked his fans their opinion about the possible fight, at the same time he sent a direct message to UFC president Dana White. "Yes or no? Dana White, make it happen!” wrote the former Strikeforce and DREAM champion.
At 35 years old, Alistair Overem has a professional record of 39 wins, 14 losses and one fight without result. The Dutchman comes from two consecutive victories, over Stefan struve e Roy Nelson. Already Junior Gypsy, 31 years old, has a record of 17 wins and three losses. The Brazilian is coming off a victory over Stipe Miocic, in December of last year.
A fight between Cigano and Overeem was even announced by the UFC in 2012, when the Brazilian was heavyweight champion. However, “The Reem” was caught taking an anti-doping test and suspended, which led to his departure from the card and subsequent replacement by Frank mir, who faced Junior dos Santos at UFC 146.
