Have you seen in SUPER FIGHTS that one of the most talked about topics after the launch of the long-awaited UFC uniforms was the series of gaffes committed by Reebok, the organization's partner in supplying sports equipment. Now, however, another error has come to light, which could perhaps be passed off as “hasty”, but which certainly attracted attention.
As part of the new clothing standards for athletes, Reebok introduced the so-called “champion uniforms”, exclusive to belt holders, with a predominance of colors in shades of black and gold. However, there is less than a week to face Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title at UFC 189, the Irishman Conor McGregor won his version of the “champions uniform” on the official website of Ultimate’s partner brand.
Reebok's new uniforms debut in the octagon at UFC 189, an event headlined by the duel between McGregor and Mendes. Since July 1st, when the million-dollar agreement between Ultimate and the sports equipment brand came into force, the organization's fighters have been obliged to wear the uniforms provided at events on the official agenda, open training sessions, weigh-ins and fight nights. For this, they are remunerated with part of the contract values, proportional to their number of fights in the organization.
