The remake of the classic 80s action film with Jean-Claude Van Damme “Kickboxer”, still without an official release date in theaters, could well be called “MMA Fighter”. The remake, which already features the former Canadian champion Georges St Pierre and muse Gina Carano, the participation of the new holder of the linear heavyweight belt has just been confirmed Fabricio Werdum, who will go to Thailand to film his scenes.

“I'm going to do a movie called 'Kickboxer.' It's awesome, it's already 60% done and there will be a familiar crowd, because it's a remake of an old Van Damme film. GSP is also in the cast, as is Gina Carano, so it's going to be really cool! I'm very happy, I had a meeting in Los Angeles with Rob Hickman, who is the producer of the film, and I'm very excited to see how it goes. I still don't know what my role will be, I have to fight someone, but it's great to receive this invitation. Who knows, maybe I’ll become a great movie actor in Hollywood?”, said the heavyweight, in an interview reproduced on the “Combate” channel website.
At 37, Fabricio Werdum has a professional record of 20 wins, five losses and one draw. Undefeated in his last six fights, Werdum won the interim title by beating Mark Hunt in November last year and unified the heavyweight belts with the submission over Cain Velazquez on June 13th. Still without an official return date, “Vai Cavalo” must face Andrei Arlovski ou Stipe Miocic upon his return to the octagon.
