On Tuesday night (30), UFC president Dana White went on North American TV to announce that the Brazilian José Aldo will not be able to face Conor McGregor and that the Irish will now fight against Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight belt. One of the director's main arguments to justify the creation of a provisional title was the fact that this is the fifth time that Aldo has failed to defend his belt due to injury since he debuted in Ultimate.

Therefore, the SUPER FIGHTS recalls all the opportunities in which the Brazilian was injured and was unable to defend his belt, the first of which was during what would be his debut in the octagon – after the extinction of the WEC event, in which he was champion of the under-66 kg division – and the most recent after the rib injury that forced him to withdraw from the highly anticipated clash against Conor McGregor.
