MMA fans are eager to know if José Aldo will fight or not at UFC 189, but Conor McGregor does not share this sentiment. The Irishman, who still doesn't know for sure who he will face on July 11th, stated that he doesn't care about the identity of his opponent, as he fully trusts that he will leave the octagon with victory.

The fight between McGregor and Aldo is in risk after the Brazilian suffered a rib injury during training. Although the UFC's plans indicate that the fight will be held anyway, the organization has already scheduled Chad Mendes to replace the featherweight champion if there are no conditions for combat.
In an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”, McGregor stated that, if Aldo is unable to participate in the event, it would not affect his focus for the fight. “I hope he shows up, but it doesn’t matter. Whoever is there will be demolished, be it Chad or José. Whoever appears will be destroyed. I hope José shows up, but it would be cool to destroy Chad too”, commented the Irishman.
McGregor, however, admitted that he would prefer to face the current featherweight champion, especially after the extensive promotional effort for the fight. “If I could say anything to him, I would say 'come out, c***'. Let's make this happen. Everyone in this business is hurt. Show up! Let's fight like men. Represent your country, represent yourself, show pride and step into the Octagon to compete,” he said, adding: “It would be great to have José, but I can’t force an individual to fight if they are scared. If he's running or scared, there's nothing I can do. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I'm scared of myself, because I see an animal, a machine. I probably wouldn’t want to face myself either,” he signed off.
