Case José Aldo decides to participate normally in UFC 189, on July 11th, the Brazilian would most likely not face an objection from the Nevada Athletic Commission. This is what Bob Bennett, executive director of the entity that will regulate the event in Las Vegas, guarantees.

In an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”, Bennett stated that the Commission's doctor, Timothy Trainor, contacted the person responsible for the UFC, Jeff Davidson, and it was found that the Brazilian's injury, apparently , is not serious enough to prevent the license to fight from being given.
“At this time, according to contact made by Dr. Trainor with Dr. Davidson, it appears Aldo has a rib contusion and cartilage damage. Dr. Trainor is still waiting to see the documentation, but at the current time, we believe it is highly unlikely that Aldo will have any problems competing. Dr. Trainor told me that this type of injury is quite common and usually gets better within a few days,” Bennett explained.
As explained by the director, Aldo should receive clearance to compete after the entity analyzes the fighter's complete medical documentation. If the Brazilian is removed from the event, the UFC has already announced that Chad Mendes will face Conor McGregor on July 11, in a fight that would put the category's interim belt at stake.
