The question that most intrigues MMA fans today is whether José Aldo will or will not participate in UFC 189, in the long-awaited fight against Conor McGregor. Although there are uncertainties on the champion's side, former fighter Brian Stann sees a very convincing reason for the Brazilian to step into the octagon: money.

The featherweight champion recently suffered a rib injury during training. The UFC announced that the Brazilian is still scheduled for the fight, as he will undergo intensive treatment until then to be able to fight. However, his participation in the event is still uncertain, as it will depend on the champion's recovery and the opinion of the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Stann, who retired from the sport after an epic fight against Wanderlei Silva and today works as a commentator on North American TV, he believes that Aldo will not lose out even if he loses to McGregor.

“I think he will fight based on the financial impact alone. There are some positive factors for Aldo in this fight: he will make incredible money, win, lose or draw. He is the only featherweight champion in history. I think he deserves, no matter what, an immediate rematch if he loses. If he accepts the fight, people will point to his ribs if he performs terribly. And then there would already be huge expectations for the rematch, where he would earn another impressive salary”, said Stann, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

The fight between Aldo and McGregor is scheduled for July 11th, in Las Vegas (USA). Ultimate has already announced that, if Aldo has to be cut from the attraction, Chad Mendes will replace him against McGregor in a fight that would be worth the interim title of the category.
