Even though McGregor is a kickboxer, defining most of his fights with striking, Pederneiras is betting that the Irishman will try to take Aldo to the ground when he realizes that he is at a disadvantage with his strikes.

“I believe Conor will transform into a wrestler in the middle of the fight. He thinks he's good [at striking], but in the middle of the fight he'll realize he's not that good. He will try to take Aldo down. He has no idea who he's going to face. He will try takedowns during the fight”, said the coach, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Pederneiras also doesn't see McGregor showing any major innovations in his game, especially if he's under pressure. “I don’t think McGregor is doing anything different than what he’s done before. He's not in Ireland, he's in Las Vegas [preparing for the fight], and maybe he has a magician to change his game. We see how the fighter reacts when he is under pressure, and, when he is under pressure, he will do exactly what he has always done,” he commented.
