At a press conference held in Mexico City, during UFC 188, Weidman was asked about Rockhold's main qualities. The response, in a joking tone, surprised: “He is handsome, I need to recognize that. Apart from that, he is bad at everything else”, he mocked, in an excerpt reproduced on the “FOX Sports” website.
Afterwards, Weidman resumed a more serious tone and compared his game to Rockhold's, considering himself superior overall. “He said he could beat me at everything? He couldn't beat me in jiu-jitsu, he couldn't beat me in striking and he couldn't beat me in wrestling. So I say it back,” he commented.
Finally, Weidman revealed that he still doesn't know exactly when and where the fight will take place, but he sees signs that the UFC is planning to marry the fight if it actually debuts in New York. “If there is a possibility of this [fighting in New York] happening, they won't put me on a shorter card. So, it looks like if this is legalized, I will fight in December,” he said.
