The legion of fans Conor McGregor has just gained an illustrious member: action film star Jean-Claude Van Damme. Talking about the Irish, who defies José Aldo on July 11th, at UFC 189, Van Damme was full of praise, said he believes in the athlete's future in cinema and even offered to train with him in the future.

“McGregor will always move forward. He likes to evolve as a fighter, with philosophy, reading books, trying to learn his way. He's not stupid. He does what he has to do. He's a nice guy who loves people. He will make one, two or three films, for sure, because he wants to have contact with everything. His heart is that of a true warrior. After this fight, I would love to spend some time with him to improve his knees so he doesn't make mistakes”, said the Belgian actor, in an interview with the podcast of announcer Bruce Buffer.
According to Van Damme, it won't be easy for any fighter to beat McGregor, given that the Irishman has a unique combination of physical and mental attributes and a passionate fan base supporting him. “A guy like McGregor has that kind of thing. He's hungry. This is new for him. He appreciates money with a big smile. He is living a great adventure. I am advising you to enjoy every second of the day. It will be difficult for anyone to beat McGregor because he is fighting with this, the combination of his techniques and his height. He still has the Irish people behind him, he created a connection between himself and the audience of his first fights and he wants to be loved”, he analyzed.
Despite the praise, however, the star of films such as “The Great White Dragon” and “Universal Soldier” preferred not to name his favorite for the fight at UFC 189 and said he was a fan of both McGregor and the featherweight champion. José Aldo. “McGregor has speed, but a guy like Aldo can handle that. It's dangerous. To be honest, I love McGregor and I love Aldo. These two are like a Lamborghini and a Ferrari. McGregor is strong, fast and moves forward. He is unpredictable. He has something that no one else in the division has. He can walk backwards at the same time as he strikes. When someone comes at him, he can walk back and hit the guy. It’s very dangerous,” he concluded.
Conor McGregor e José Aldo face each other for the featherweight belt on July 11th, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in the main fight of UFC 189. The card also features a welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler e Rory McDonald as the main event.
