Chris Weidman became a real thorn in the side for Brazilian fighters in the UFC. The current middleweight champion, who defeated Anderson Silva to win the belt, he comes from four consecutive victories over fighters from the country, which also includes the rematch with “Spider”, the triumph over Lyoto Machida and the technical knockout against Vitor belfort. However, according to Giovani Decker, general director of Ultimate in Brazil, Weidman's rivalry with Brazilian athletes is far from over.

In an interview reproduced by the website “Lance!Net”, Decker stated that his dream working at the head of the UFC would be to arrange a new fight between Weidman and a Brazilian, in a fight to be held at the Maracanã stadium, in Rio de Janeiro.
“[The dream fight would be] Chris Weidman against Vitor, or Lyoto, or Anderson, or [Ronaldo] Jacaré in a packed Maracanã. It would be the 'killer of Brazilians' feeling the breath of Maracanã. Why not?” said the leader.
Decker reasoned that for this to become a reality, Weidman will have to defeat Luke Rockhold, who has already been confirmed as his next challenger. “First, Rockhold happens. If Lyoto beats [Yoel] Romero, he'll be back in line, let's see what happens with Anderson, without forgetting Thales leites. It is the category that has the most Brazilians. We have to recognize that Weidman is a phenomenon, but a packed Maracanã would be tough for him”, he commented.
