After several scandals throughout his career, Jon Jones He complicated his situation once and for all when he was involved in a traffic accident and fled to help the victim, a pregnant woman. The controversy ended up costing the champion the light heavyweight belt and, since then, the fighter has remained out of the spotlight. According to Jones' trainer, Mike Winkeljohn, the chances of him never returning to the octagon are real, but this is far from being the most important issue at the moment.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the Jon Jones change your life and become a better person. Will he fight again or not? I don't know. This is not important. What's important now is that he needs to take care of himself and his family," Winkeljohn said in an interview with Submission Radio. “For us, the most important thing is the Jon Jones. Everyone seems to forget other things, but at the end of the day, it's all about him becoming a better person. The fighter is secondary. We have lost sight of this. There is a possibility that he will not fight again. There is also the possibility of him returning,” he added.

Also according to the coach, who runs the “Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA Academy” alongside Greg Jackson, the former champion even returned to training, but not necessarily with the intention of preparing for his hypothetical return to the ring. “I know he’s busy helping others at the gym right now. This is very important. He's doing the right thing. He was at the gym helping the Andrei Arlovski for his fight (against Travis Browne). He's at the gym helping others now. He came back to contribute, stopped doing the things that got him in trouble and moved on,” he assured.

The accident of Jon Jones

PUBLICITY:

Early in the morning of April 27th, Jon Jones crossed a red light on an avenue in Albuquerque and hit a car driven by a pregnant woman. The fighter fled the scene on foot, returning a little later to get money from the car, without helping the victim, who broke an arm.

Jones turned himself in to police a few days later and was released on bail. Due to the episode, the UFC decided to remove the belt from Jon Jones and suspend him indefinitely. In recent video released on the internet, new images from the moment of the accident and the victim were shown, as well as further details about the car driven by the fighter at the time of the collision.
