After losing in a landslide to Anthony Johnson in January, Alexander Gustafson I didn't expect that I would fight for the UFC belt so soon. However, due to all the events of recent months, which involved the withdrawal of the Jon Jones and the coronation of Daniel Cormier, the Swede was awarded the position of next challenger for the belt, on a date and location that are yet to be defined.

So Gustafsson couldn't be happier with the opportunity. In an interview with the YouTube channel “MMA Viking”, the fighter expressed his surprise at the recent events. “Actually, I hadn't been thinking much about the title. I didn't see myself in this position because of my defeat. But here I am now and I am so grateful. I'm very happy and excited. I couldn’t ask for more”, he analyzed.

His opponent will be Cormier, who beat the last man to defeat Gustafsson at the end of May. Despite praising the new champion's work, the Swede stated that he saw several gaps in his game.

“I saw several opportunities. It was very frustrating to see that fight, but that's how things are. Anthony did a great job against me. All credits to him. And 'DC' did a great job against Anthony. MMA is like that,” he stated.
