Jussier formiga is on the rise in the UFC flyweight division. The Nova União athlete recently won his third consecutive victory in the octagon, against Wilson reis, at UFC Goiânia, which made him rise in the category rankings, now in third place. Thus, the Brazilian believes that the most logical path for his career at the moment is the title fight, currently in the hands of Demetrious Johnson.

According to Formiga's argument, Johnson has already defeated the athletes who are ahead of the Brazilian in the rankings, John Dodson e Joseph Benavidez. Therefore, he believes he should be next in line. “I deserve my chance. In the top 5, the only one who didn't fight Johnson was me, and I'm coming off three victories over very tough guys. If I have the chance to fight for the title and that fight is against Johnson, I will be aggressive, I will fight forward all the time and I will do exactly what he does to his opponents. He has dominated the category for a long time, to take the title from him you have to go out of the ordinary, and that is what I will do, if I get the chance”, said the Brazilian.

In addition to beating Reis, Formiga had victories over Zach Makovsky and Scott Jorgensen, the latter in controversial fashion, after an accidental headbutt. His only losses in the UFC were to Dodson and Benavidez.
