Bader is on a four-fight winning streak in the UFC and was due to face Cormier next weekend, at the Fight Night 68 event. However, Ultimate's plans changed with the stripping of the title. Jon Jones, which caused Cormier to leave the fight and fight for the linear belt at UFC 187, at the end of last month.
The TUF champion believes he is already accredited enough to fight for the title, and used the example of Cormier himself to argue in his favor. “He dropped to 93 kg, fought Patrick Cummins and Dan Henderson and then he got the chance to fight for the belt. He took a beating and then received another chance to fight for the belt, and then he finally won the title. This is the easiest path I’ve ever seen anyone take to win the belt”, argued Bader, in an interview with the “Submission Radio” podcast.
“People are not giving me the respect I deserve, especially from him. That's why I want to face him. I want to prove to him and everyone that I am not only worthy of facing him, but that I will beat him and win the belt”, guaranteed the American.
In his last fight, in January, Bader defeated Phil Davis in the judges' decision. Before, he had beaten names like Ovince St Preux, Rafael Feijão and Anthony Perosh. In total, Bader has four defeats, to Jon Jones, Tito Ortiz, Lyoto Machida e Glover Teixeira.
